The Art of Salsa Dance - Salsa dance classes
This Spring 2026, we are offering two classes:
Beginner (6:00pm)
Advanced Beginner / Intermediate (7:00pm)
Priscilla Gardner Main Library - 472 Jersey Ave, Jersey City 07302
Beginner: No prior dance experience needed! Students will learn a style of salsa known as On1, including the basic step, a few basic shines (footwork), and beginner partner work (such as turns) that will help you start moving confidently around the dance floor.
Advanced Beginner / Intermediate: Previous knowledge and understanding of the On1 basic step and partner work is needed, including commonly taught elements such as basic right turns and the cross-body-lead. This class builds on the Beginner level, moving at a faster pace with a wider variety of partner combinations.
The Art of Salsa Dance is an arts education program that explores salsa’s roots, celebrating its vibrant history from the South Bronx to the world.
This program is supported in part by public funds from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund, and presented by Kenia Rosete Dance in collaboration with The Learning Center.

Raíces Con Ritmo: Salsa Stories — A Bilingual Salsa Class & Conversation
Join us for a 30-minute Salsa class followed by a 30-minute (Salsa Stories) guided conversation exploring the roots, rhythm and culture of Salsa.
Acompañanos a una clase corta de Salsa seguida por una conversación, Salsa Stories, que explora las raíces, el ritmo y la cultura de la Salsa. Esta sesión es para la comunidad ESL combinando movimiento, lenguaje e intercambio cultural.
